Local Community, Charity & Events in Reading

Here at Brainbox Learning we thrive on playing a key part in the local community! All of our tutors are local, all of our students are local, and that makes us even more determined to make a difference in any way we can.

First and foremost, our students and tutors all have a say in nominating our ‘local charity of the month’. Parents and tutors will receive a link to vote by email each month, and each lesson taught or received will equate to one vote.

Secondly, we are committed to running at least one community event each quarter. Dates and times will be advertised well in advance, and all students, parents, tutors and members of the local Reading community will be invited to take part.

In addition, we are always willing to listen to ideas from parents and students.

Throughout 2025 we will be stepping up our support for tutors using electric vehicles and public transport to attend lessons where possible, in order to reduce the environmental impact of travel to and from students, while maintaining the crucial benefits of face-to-face tuition.

Mock Exam Day Community Places

We strongly believe that as many people as possible in our community should be able to benefit from the educational services we provide, regardless of their financial situation or background. For this reason, we have reserved 5 free spaces at each of our mock exam days for girls and boys who may not otherwise be able to attend. These spaces can be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis, and we ask that parents sign up for a maximum of 2 free exams per child. We charge just £10 to reserve each free space, which is fully refunded via the original payment method when children attend on the day. We provide all children and their parents or carers attending our events with the same experience, with no differentiation being made between children paying full price and those attending for free. All families will receive the same level of detailed individual feedback in the form of a tailor-made PowerPoint presentation, as well as the usual perks on the day, including free parking and free tea and coffee. Please note that we receive no external funding or sponsorship for these free places - we aim to distribute them as fairly as possible, roughly based on the oversubscription criteria used by both Kendrick School and Reading School (see below). The decision of Brainbox Learning Ltd is final. Please fill in the form below to make your request.
